Trail building at Healy Nab

DSCN2205  TRAIL building began this week at Healy Nab in Rivington to secure more trails for mountain bikers.

And organisers have appealed for volunteers to turn up on site if anyone can help.

The contractors Terra Firma have brought some heavy machinery but progress is slow.

Even at this early stage there is a visable commitment to two trails - the longer distance RED and a more challenging route.

Both trails will have the same trail head presently at the top of the Nab in the clearing, and a "qualifier" for the challenge route is being constructed to deter any novice unsuspecting rider into hurting themself.

Warning notices will eventually abound similar to those seen at the Bacup quarry, and other public trails.

More attention will today be placed on securing a faster progress with the Red trail.
